Coach Roman Biography
Joe Roman has served as a Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for almost four decades. From 1975-2003 Coach Roman was Defensive Coordinator College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, IL. 1975-1996, Mesa Community College, Mesa, Az 1998-1999, and Joliet Junior College 2002-2003, . His Team at Joliet Junior College won the 2001 NJCCA None Scholarship National Championship, and in 2002 they won the NJCCA National Championships for Scholarship and Non-Scholarship with a win over Georgia Military 24-14.  College of DuPage set the NJCAA an unbroken record of 36 for longest consecutive wins.  During his tenure, the DuPage and Joliet teams combined, won 14 State Junior College Championships, 15 Region 4 Championships and 15 Bowl Games 12-3, and an overall win/loss/tie record of 213-65-1. From 2000 through present, Coach Roman has been both a Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator, in Germany and Austria, coaching the Hannover Musketeers, Vienna Dragons, Hamburg Blue Devils, Marburg Mercenaries and Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, and Hildesheim Invaders, Elmshorn Fighting Pirates, currently with the Rostock Griffins. His European teams achieved a total record of 160-61-1, while coaching in 2 German Bowl Games, winning the GFL South and GFL North Championship. Coach Roman is the author of one book and 11 videos for Coaches Choice books and videos. Named 2002 Junior College Defensive Coordinator of the Year by American Football Monthly Magazine. Honored by AFLAC as the top assistant coach – 2002, and by the Scholastic Coach & Athletic Director Magazine as the top assistant coach – 2002. Inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Football Hall of Fame-2016.
